T. R. Knight, or Theodore Raymond Knight, was born March 26, 1973 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
T. R. Knight began his acting career at the age of 5 as a member of the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. After high school, Knight decided to continue acting instead of going to college. Knight then moved to New York and has appeared on Broadway (Noises Off, 2001; Tartuffe, 2003; Boy, 2004). In 2003, he received a Drama Desk Award nomination for his role in the off-Broadway production of Scattergood.
Knight was a cast member on the 2003 series Charlie Lawrence; however he is best known for his role on the popular ABC series, Grey's Anatomy as intern George O'Malley.

Knight said, "I guess there have been a few questions about my sexuality, and I'd like to quiet any unnecessary rumors that may be out there. While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the fact that I'm gay isn't the most interesting part of me."
