California Party Conservatives Not Ready for Moderate GOP

With elections round the corner in the State of California, it is no surprise that the Republican Party is doing its best to appeal to the voters. The conservative stand of the party on various issues, including those like gun rights, abortion rights and same sex marriage etc could affect the results of this election. Under these circumstances, it is obvious that the party members would do anything to ensure that they get the winning votes this term. Toning the stand on these issues along with directing their attention to more important economic issues of the state was believed to be the best strategy for winning votes in the coming election.

Several members of the California Republican Party had proposed a more moderate platform for the party members to consider as their own in the forthcoming elections. This moderate platform concentrated on the economic issues worrying the state, including the need for more jobs and the ways in which the overall economy can be strengthened, instead of the above mentioned conservative issues. It was believed that by concentrating on money, they could rid themselves of any controversies and their impacts, if any, should they occur with regard to the other issues.

However, in a recent Platform Committee meeting, the party conservatives decided not to accept this moderate platform. Instead they decided to approve an updated version of the existing platform, where they described each point in more detail than the previous version. Several members of the party welcomed this move by stating that this move has brought to limelight the core principles of the party. According to those supporting the original platform of the party, people or voters are more worried about social issues rather than those related to money.

Supporters of the moderate platform, however, are not disheartened by this motion of the Platform Committee. They believe that this is not the end of this motion or the debate. They believe that the spring convention is the perfect place where the motion can be debated by a full house, where all delegates get to vote on various issues. Supporters of the moderate GOP believe that the several factors will be debated and adopted during the spring convention.

Supporters firmly believe that akin to families or friends, parties also have their disagreements, where no two members agree on the same issue. However, this does mean that there is discord but that each side will continue to support and argue on behalf of their stand, whilst ensuring complete respect to that of another.
