Beanie Baby Crafts
- Use felt to make festive clothing for your old Beanie Babies to give them new life. Cut different colors of felt into a shirt, hat or pants shape around the animal's body, leaving a little extra room to allow for seams and the toy's head. Use the primary shape to cut an identical piece of felt in the same color. Use either hot glue or thread to fasten the two pieces together, matching the edges as close as possible. Flip the clothing inside out so that the seam is hidden on the inside. Slip it onto the Beanie Baby and add details, such as buttons or ribbon trimming.
- Use the variety of animals that are available from TY to make a diorama to demonstrate their natural habitats in your child's classroom projects. Create the background of the diorama using a large cardboard or shoe box. Use pieces of construction paper to create native plants and rivers. Paint a layer of water-diluted glue over the surface of blue paper to create a liquid-esque sheen for rivers. Place the Beanie Baby animals around the diorama in groups or alone depending on the typical familial habits of the animal.
- Use small boxes to create colorful and unusual homes for the Beanie Babies gathering dust in your closet. Glue the lid of the box to the main body. Cut an oval-shaped hole into the side of your boxes with scissors or a craft knife. Ensure that the hole is large enough that you are easily able to slip the Beanie Baby into the box. Wrap the box in colorful or metallic scrapbook paper. Color the box with acrylic paint to give the homes additional personality. Stack two or three boxes on top of one another. Add canine or feline Beanie Babies to the holes to decorate a child's bedroom or a craft room.
- Use a wire or polystyrene wreath base and a Beanie Baby to create a holiday wreath to hang on your door. Gather festive materials, such as colorful polystyrene eggs or small plastic pumpkins. Use hot glue to attach the decorations to the wreath base. Select a Beanie Baby that is somehow related to the holiday, such as Zip the Black Cat for Halloween. Arrange the toy in the center of the wreath. Glue the toy to a metal wire frame for a standing or intricately posed decoration. Attach mounting brackets to the back of the base and proudly hang your decoration on your door to demonstrate your holiday spirit.
