How to Draw People Easily - Like Professionals

Let us accept it.
Drawing human beings is not like drawing trees.
It's actually a lot more difficult because our eyes and our brain know the human body very intimately.
So if you want to draw people you have to be ready to do some hard work.
But at the outset let me tell you there is nothing to be afraid of because the work that you will be putting in will be rewarded enormously in terms of sheer fun.
Here in this article I will be drawing your attention to certain aspects of people drawing.
I will point out some common mistakes that you should be aware of and things that you can do to make your work easier.
Start with simple postures: if you start with complex postures you will get disheartened very fast.
Practice drawing people with simple postures and once you become comfortable with that you will be able to handle more difficult ones easily.
Use statues, even toys: drawing is basically representing 3D forms on paper.
So to be a good artist you must be efficient in doing 3D To 2D conversion.
Drawing human figures from pictures will not help you to develop this skill.
It will be best if you can get live models.
But if you don't have access to live models you can use statues to sharpen your skill.
Even small toys can serve this purpose very well.
Be aware of basic ratios: you don't have to go through thick volumes on human anatomy.
Just be aware of basic ratios of human anatomy because without this knowledge you won't be able to produce anything worthy to be looked at.
Mistakes to avoid:-- Do not ignore light source: beginners often make this mistake.
They ignore the light source completely and it makes the drawing look lifeless.
Adding some shadow in the composition will save the day.
And you don't have to add detailed shadow only small black or grey patches to indicate presence of shadow will do the wonder.
Do not ignore hands and feet: the hands and feet will occupy a very small portion of your composition, but being careless with these areas can destroy otherwise very good work.
So take extra care when drawing hands and feet.
