Lions Gate Films Acquires "Skinwalkers"

May 13, 2005 - Lions Gate Films announced they've picked up the rights to the horror/thriller, Skinwalkers. Production is expected to begin in the fall with Jim Isaac (Arachnophobia) signed on to direct.

Legendary creature creator Stan Winston will work on the creatures in Skinwalkers. In a press release issued by the studio, Lions Gate International President Nick Meyer said, "Our international distributors can expect the highest production values and state-of-the-art visual effects courtesy of Stan Winston's genius, combined with the reputation of the Lions Gate horror brand and the Company's box office track record.

Lions Gate Films Releasing President Tom Ortenberg was quoted as saying, "This film brings together an all-star team of horror, with Jim Isaac, Stan Winston Studios, Constantin Film and Lions Gate Films all staking out leadership positions in the horror genre. Skinwalkers targets a moviegoing audience we know well, and we are combining a great story with dazzling effects to serve up our first werewolf movie to moviegoers nationwide."

Director Isaac added, "Skinwalkers is unique because it has a great story, compelling characters, amazing special effects, action and stunning visuals. All of these elements come together in a way that is very organic to the story. I am very excited about the team of filmmakers involved in this project."

Skinwalkers Synopsis

Skinwalkers is a horror action film about a 12-year-old boy who suddenly finds himself at the center of a battle between two warring groups of werewolves. One group of werewolves is sworn to protect him, the other group is trying to kill him - and the young boy's mother has to find out why her son is at the center of the conflict before time runs out.
