Breast Cancer Nutrition

    Omegas 3 and 6

    • Omega 3 present in fish oils and foods rich in Omega 6 like avocado oil, olive oil and nuts are good breast cancer preventive measures.

    Diet

    • Researchers at University of California at San Francisco are looking into the fact that women who eat a diet mainly of fruits and vegetables have lower chances of being diagnosed with breast cancer. The risk factor was reduced by almost 40 percent in a 2004 study.

    Animal Proteins

    • A diet that is high in animal protein and saturated fat and low in roughage and dietary fiber may increase the risk of breast cancer. You tend to eat less fruit, grains, and vegetables when your diet consists of eggs, meat, milk and cheese, as well as junk food.

    Beans and Legumes

    • Eating good sources of plant proteins such as soy and other beans like garbanzo, kidney beans, black-eyed peas and legumes are good sources of protective phytochemicals to prevent cancer.

    Nutritional Supplements

    • Nutritional Supplements
Eating nine to 10 servings of vegetables and fruits a day will provide you with vitamins C and E and antioxidant bioflavonoids such as xanthophylls and beta-carotene. All are good dietary supports for breast cancer patients.

    Multivitamins

    • There are mineral and multivitamin supplements that provide necessary nutrients and antioxidants. But you still need to consume at least five servings of vegetables and fruits a day as well as five or six servings of beans and whole grains.
