• Features of the Mini DV video camera itself vary considerably depending on make, model and price point, but are not unlike other camcorders with the exception of a mechanical Mini DV tape drive. Similar to a VCR, cassette player or other tape device, these camcorders contain controls that allow tapes to be rewound, fast-forwarded, played, paused and recorded. Some Mini DV camcorders allow the use of a removable small-capacity SD (secure digital) card for storing still pictures, while others allow picture imaging and storage to take place on the Mini DV tape.
