EFT for Word Blindness: Part 2
Last time we talked about how Dyslexia is a cognitive difficulty that shows up neurologically.
Meridian tapping was used in the first meeting with Tricia to focus on the sequencing difficulties dyslexics face.
Tricia selectedtwo specificsituations that occurred at school, being both sides of the same ordering problem.
Tricia was also surprised to find she was able to sequence remarkably effectively.
The following session focused on her time in the womb.
Since the research shows that Word blindness is a developmental problem, it seemed sensible to tackle her experience in the womb.
Tricia visualised what it felt like to be a fetus in the womb.
Tricia indicated she was both "really comfortable" and "uneasy" at the same time.
As the round on "this uneasiness" and not knowing where it came from progressed, Tricia added "stress" to the reminder phrases.
It's vital that when the client changes the wording of the reminder phrases, the practitioner goes with her.
This is in the spirit of doing EFT "through me rather than by me".
As we went through all the emotions Tricia produced from her "baby self", I was fascinated to note that it was only when her eyes were shut and she was in touch with her baby self that she felt any of the emotions she listed.
Checking in with her when her eyes were open during our discussions, she was clearly not in the same emotional space.
There were quite a few emotions to deal with - Tricia's mother had had a miscarriage before Tricia and had been stressed and fearful of losing another baby throughout the pregnancy.
Some humor was introduced at this point with the thought of "Even though my mummy is sending me awful hormones, I'm sending my own right back!".
Then a book was chosen at random and Tricia was requested to read a passage aloud.
She was asked to indicate on a scale of nought to ten how comfortable she was doing this, with nought being not comfortable at all and 10 being very at ease.
Most people with word blindness experience print as "dancing", but Tricia was amazed.
The words weren't moving any more!.
They were, however, still raised off the page, as if they werefloating.
Tricia said she felt fairly relaxed reading the passage - about a 7 on the scale of one to ten.
The next round focused on anchoring her mind's eye just over and behind her head.
On being asked to read a new passage she was surprised to find the print smooth and unmoving on the page.
Some time later, Tricia said she still had no trouble reading unless she was tired.
On a follow up call, Tricia said she is still experiencing print as flat and immobile - and that this has changed her life completely for the better!
