Power and Reset

• The Sansa E270 is powered on and off with the "Power" button located in the bottom left corner of the device. This button can also put the device in "Standby" mode, which will save your current settings, and it can be used to reset the player if becomes unresponsive.
  
  To turn on the E270, press the "Power" button once. The device will boot up and the thumbwheel will light up. Once booted, the main menu will display on the screen.
  
  To turn off the E270, press and hold the "Power" button until "Goodbye" appears on the screen. This usually takes about 2 seconds.
  
  "Standby" mode should be used to conserve the E270's battery. If you have a particular music track or video paused, and you don't want to go through the process of finding it again later, press the "Power" button once to put the player in "Standby" mode. This will save your track, while conserving power.
  
  If at any time the E270 becomes unresponsive, there may be an error in the player. You can clear the error by resetting the device. To reset the device, press and hold the "Power" button for about 15 seconds. The E270 will force the power off, and you can attempt to use the player as normal.
  
  

Adding Music

• To place music on the Sansa E270, plug the wide end of the connector cable into the bottom of the device. The other end should be plugged into a USB port on your computer. After a few seconds, Windows will recognize the device and give you a list of options. Choose "Open Device to View Files Using Windows Explorer." Double click the Sansa E270 device and double click the "MUSIC" folder. This is where all of your music will be stored on the E270.
  
  Place music from your computer onto the device by clicking on the music file and dragging it into the "MUSIC" folder. If you want to place multiple files in the folder at once, hold the "Ctrl" button while clicking on the files you want to place in the folder. When you click the last file, drag the entire group into the "MUSIC" folder.
  
  

Playback

• To listen to your music on the Sansa E270, move your finger clockwise and counterclockwise along the thumbwheel to scroll through the menu items on the main menu. Highlight "Music" and press the "Select" button in the middle of the thumbwheel. The "Music" menu will appear on the screen and allow you to choose your music from a variety of categories, including "Artists," "Albums" and "Songs." Highlight the category you want to look through and press the "Select" button. Continue in this manner until you find the song you want to play. When you find the song, highlight it and press "Select" to begin playback.
