African Bible Colleges

The African Bible Colleges are established in Africa and designed to train Christians for ministry in churches, evangelical events, mission trips and other church-related activities. There are three African Bible Colleges, located in Liberia, Malawi and Uganda. They all train potential leaders and strive to teach and instill Christian principles to be utilized in everyday life. They offer higher education leading to bachelor degrees based on teachings from the Bible. - The African Bible College in Yekepa, Liberia, was the first of the bible colleges established. Students are able to enjoy the beautiful Nimba Mountains while on campus. It was founded in 1976 and incorporated by the Liberian government the same year. The university was granted full accreditation status in 1986. It was given permanent university status in 2008 by the National Commission of Higher Education of the Republic of Liberia. The campus consists of 22 buildings, including a state-of-the-art library, residence halls, a chapel, classrooms, staff dormitories, a dining hall and a gymnasium. The university is equipped with modern teaching tools such as computer research labs, LCD projectors and Internet access. Three faculty members and many members of the advisory board are graduates of the African Bible College. Interested applicants may fill out a pre-application on the school's website. Passing an entrance exam and holding a West African Examination Council certificate is necessary for acceptance.

Directly outside of Lilongwe, the university is located in the middle of the country and about 20 miles from Kamuzu International Airport. This university contains 24 buildings, including staff housing, student dormitories, a dining hall, computer lab, library and modern communications building. A unique amenity of this campus is a football field used to host many activities. The requirements for admission include passing the entrance exam with letters of recommendation and Christian character references. Potential students must have competed secondary school and have passed the MSCE, the national high school exam.

Access to the college is made simple by nearby Entebbe International Airport, about 30 miles away. This is the third of the African Bible Colleges to be established. The accommodations vary at this 31-acre campus because it is equipped with full residential room and board plans for all students. The accommodations include separate housing for male and female students. This includes separate, but limited housing for married students and their families. Most faculty also lives on-site.
