With KitchenAid KPEX Pasta Excellence Set Homemade Pasta is a Joy to Make
My family and I are not Italians but that does not stop us from enjoying sumptuous home-made pasta, on quite a regularly basis, if I may say.
I already own the KitchenAid stand mixer and my recent purchase of the KitchenAid KPEX Pasta Excellence Set - the attachment pack that works to complement the mixer, just makes my home-made pasta creations even simpler! Two years ago, having home-made pasta for dinner (or lunch) in my house was akin to 'The Untouchables' - something I didn't even believe I could get close to.
Then I searched the Internet on how I could make home-made pasta a reality to serve my family.
That was when I learnt about the KitchenAid attachment set.
Since I have already got the mixer, it made sense to get this set as an extension to my mixer's usability.
Right after I purchased the pasta attachment set, I didn't hesitate to try out one of my favourites - large lasagna noodles.
The stand mixer did its bit by mixing the dough for me before I ran it through the pasta set to get the final product.
Whipping the pasta with our family's favorite spicy and tangy tomato-based sauce was simply delicious.
Just heavenly! Even thinking and writing about it now makes me salivate.
Of course, I didn't stop at just large lasagna noodles.
That would not have justified my purchase of the mixer and the attachment.
So I became adventurous and tried out fettuccini, traditional spaghetti and another of my long-time favorite - angel hair.
The thing is I don't remember 'failing' in making the pasta that I had set myself to do.
Before I purchase the set, however, I was concerned about the making of ravioli.
Reading a review from Amazon, I learnt that the trick is to make the dough thin and then prick a hole in each ravioli before boiling them.
It did work - no ravioli gave way while being boiled! All said, I would be lying if I had declared that making my very own home-made pasta is not time-consuming.
To be honest, the mixer and set are not that cheap either.
So why do I bother? Well, since my family and I (I have to emphasize again here that we are not Italians just a bit of pasta freaks) do enjoy eating pasta about twice a week, I am doing it for the long haul, really.
And I do believe I am getting a 'value-for-money' product with the KitchenAid KPEX Pasta Excellence Set, that enables me to truly savor the authentic taste of home-made pasta.
For us who have been gulping down dried or frozen ones, having the home-made pasta made from the KitchenAid mixer and attachment set is a real treat to the taste buds!
