CMA Music Festival - Coliseum Shows

The first Coliseum show was on June 8, 2006. We got to the show about 7:55 and the opening act, Little Big Town, had already started their set. They sang "I'm Good," "Bring It On Home," and finished up with "Boondocks." Unfortunately by the time we made our way to our seats, they had finished.

The Coliseum is set up with two stages so while one act is on stage, the other one is being readied for the next act.

Pat Green was next on the agenda and started with "Carry On." The crowd was on their feet enjoying the lively performance. Next was "Baby Doll" and "Don't Break My Heart Again." Pat did his new single, "Feels Just Like It Should." Pat's set wound up with "Wave On Wave." During this final songs, fans in the audience waved these digital lights for an awesome affect. We didn't receive a light when we entered. I guess they ran out.

The next performance was by Blake Shelton. The new Blake Shelton has a shorter haircut. He started off with "Redneck Girl." "Nobody But Me" was next. "Goodbye Time," "Some Beach," "Austin," and "Old Red" completed Blake's set.

Sara Evans, the new ACM Female Vocalist of the Year, came on stage next. She started out with "Born To Fly." Sara is flying high in her career and deserves the honor. "Suds In The Bucket" followed by her new single, "Coal Mine," and "Could Not Ask For More" were the next selections. At the end of the song, Sara disappeared and came up on a center platform.

A couple from Buffalo were on the platform waiting for Sara. Sara introduced them to the audience and told everyone that the guy had something important to ask his girlfriend. The audience all knew he was proposing. A very nervous groom-to-be asked her to marry him and, lucky for him, she accepted.

Sara returned to the stage and sang "Real Fine Place To Start" and dedicated the song to the newly engaged couple. This was the last song of Sara's set.

The surprise guest of the evening was Dierks Bentley. From his opening song, "Lot Of Leavin' To Do," he had the audience in his hands. His new single "Every Miles A Memory" (at least that is what it sounded like Dierks said) was next. "Settle For A Slow Down," "Come A Little Closer," and "What Was I Thinkin'" rounded out his performance. During "Come A Little Closer," Dierks actually laid down on the stage to reach out to a fan in the photo line. The crowd was on their feet, singing and clapping along with the music.

We had to leave the concert early and missed the final performances of Gary Allan, Brooks and Dunn and the surprise guest, Keith Urban. Don't think we weren't disappointed to learn that!!
