How to Tell If Your RF Remote Works
- 1). Press the "Power" or "On/Off" button on your remote. The device should turn off. Press the button again to turn the device back on.
- 2). Press the "Volume" and "Mute" buttons on the remote to ensure that the remote's volume controls work properly for the device. If your device does not have a volume setting, this step is not necessary.
- 3). Press the other buttons relevant to the operation of your device. For example, if you have a television, press the remote's "Channel" buttons and numeric keypad to make sure the buttons work. If you have a DVD player or VCR, insert a DVD or VHS tape into the device and press the "Fast Forward," "Rewind," "Stop" and "Play" buttons.
