- 1). Remove the outside leaves from the plant when it is 4 to 6 inches tall. Cut off the entire leaf stems at their base with sharp shears. Leave the remaining interior foliage in place to continue growing.
- 2). Cut off the remaining foliage when the plant is 8 to 10 inches tall but before it begins to grow in its flower stalk. Pull up the entire plant or shear off the remaining stems at the soil surface.
- 3). Use the harvested cilantro immediately or store it in a perforated plastic bag in the refrigerator for up to five days. Alternatively, place the cilantro in a freezer bag and store it frozen for up to four months.
