Eco-Friendly Ways of Unclogging a Toilet

Having a clogged toilet is never anyone's idea of a fun time.
In addition to making your bathroom stinky, it can end up costing quite a bit if you have to send for a plumber.
Even the bottles of liquid un-clogging solution can cost quite a bit, as well as being quite toxic to anyone or anything living.
Luckily there are some efficient ways to deal with a clogged toilet without spending a small fortune or ruining the environment.
Try one of these eco-friendly ways to unclog a toilet next time you are faced with a toilet that just won't flush.
You can try using two things that you can find in every kitchen, water and soap.
Take a bottle of liquid dishwashing soap and put 3 or 4 good squirts in the clogged bowl.
Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
While you are waiting boil a big pot of water.
After 15 minutes, use a plunger to loosen up the clogged bowl.
Then, pour the boiling water into the toilet.
If the water starts to "flush" and go down, then you are successful.
Continue to pour the boiling water until it is apparent the clog is cleared.
For the final test, flush the toilet.
Baking soda and vinegar can also be used instead of soap.
Unless your soap is of an eco-friendly sort, then this might be an even more earth friendly technique.
Pour a cup of baking soda and a cup of vinegar into the clogged toilet.
The reaction that ensues should unclog any toilet.
You can again use the boiling water and plunger technique after the baking soda and vinegar has stopped reacting.
The old eco-friendly stand by technique to removing a clog is to invest in a toilet auger or snake, a plumber's tool that is one of the best toilet clog solutions.
You can buy one in any local hardware store.
Be warned that the snake can be a bit messy.
It is basically a long spring that is wound super tight into a coil.
Using a handle, you gently unwind the coil down into the clog to push the clog through.
This method can be highly effective and uses no harsh chemicals, which makes it very eco-friendly.
However it does take a little practice to master the technique, and you might end up with some scratches in the enamel of your toilet bowl.
Using an earth friendly technique to unclog your toilet can save you both time and money.
So next time you are faced with toilet clog, try one of these techniques before reaching for the phone or a toxic unclogging solution.
