What is an Internist? And why you need one

Dear Frisco Resident,

My name is Pedro E. Checo, MD, FACP. I'm a board certified Internist that would welcome the opportunity to provide for your Adult health care needs. Why an Internist for your primary care needs? Good question. The answer is that you want someone who has spent their entire post-graduate career leaning about the special health needs of adults. Why settle for someone who sees Adults part-time? Internists are adult medical specialists (Doctors for adults).

I've been in private practice in the DFW area for the past 18 years, having cometo the Metroplex after finishing my residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. This experience allows me to offer you the best possible medical care, both in acute/chronic disease management and, just as important, in state of the art preventive medical services. Prevention of disease is my passion. Many conditions (colon cancer, breast cancer, and heart disease, just to name a few) are examples of conditions where prevention makes a tremendous difference. We believe the best treatment for diseases is never having it in the first place. Let us help you start thinking in terms of "health preservation" instead of "disease management".

Tell me, how long is the typical wait time at your doctor's office - 1 hour, 2 hours, more? Why do you have to set aside a whole morning/afternoon for a doctor's visit? My staff and I pride ourselves in seeing our patients on time. We've been doing it for 18 years. We take into account the fact that you actually have better things to do other than sitting on a doctor's office for hours on end.

If you're satisfied with your present health care, disregard this letter and consider yourself fortunate. But if what you've read sounds like what you've been looking for, please call us at 469 633 9700 and let us show you how medicine should be practiced. I'm confident that once you see our commitment to medical excellence, you will never go elsewhere for your adult primary care needs.

We are fully bi-lingual in Spanish and participate in most insurance plans.

Sincerely,

Pedro E. Checo, MD, FACP

Diplomate,

American Board of Internal Medicine
