Terran Build Order
The Terran species has versatile soldiers and is usually extremely well balanced. This presents them with the highest number options during a confrontation. To offset this versatility, the Terrans have the most complicated way to collect minerals and Vespine gas. Since your SCVs collect minerals, Vespine gas, and erect buildings as well as fix soldiers, mineral and gas mining will usually drop off as you use your SCVs for other duties. A good Terran build order plan will be sure to develop and cast the Mule early - this will help enormously with resource collection. For twenty seconds, a Mule can mine two times as many minerals as an SCV, and that makes it an extremely useful early game strategy. Intelligent use of the Mule can offset the disparity Terrans have vs. the other races when it comes to collecting minerals. While this build is terrific, adjustable, and useful, by far the most superior build orders I've tried are from the Diamond Gamer SC2 In-Game Add on. Take a look at this Diamond Gamer Review for Starcraft 2 to see this enormously helpful addon for build orders of every race, as well as all other aspects of the game.
Terran Build Orders for an Early Mule
To get a Mule as early in the war as you can, match these build order instructions:
1. Build a Supply Depot after producing nine SCV troops.
2. After 2 extra SCVs (11 total) obstruct your ramp by erecting a Barrack and one more Supply Depot.
3. Be certain that an SCV is working your Command Center at all times.
Make sure to review these incredible Terran Strategies for rush attacks and of course the Complete Terran Guidebook before going into battle. They'll teach you how to scout and harass your enemy, micro and macro expertly, and much, much more.
4. As soon as the Barrack is finished, close off the ramp by building another Supply Depot.
5. Max out your SCVs at 14 so you will have sufficient minerals to upgrade to Orbital Command as soon as the Barracks are constructed.
6. Errect a Refinery, then 2 additional SCV units to mine gas.
7. To counter opposing offensives, produce 3-4 Marines.
8. Make an additional Barracks and also make sure to accumulate fifty Vespene gas so you'll be able to link a technology lab to your initial Barracks.
9. When the Orbital Command is done with the upgrade, cast a Mule on the closest mineral mine and keep making SCV units.
Terran Build Order Strategy Against Zerg Players
Zerg opponents on land usually will attack with Zergling rush, a large scale Zergling attack, or a Hydralisk & Roach attack. Terrans have the ability usually protect themselves from all of these attacks pretty easily by using the same build order - Construct two Barracks, one Supply Depot, and then either more Barracks or an upgraded Academy and then even more Barracks.
You should defend against the Hydralisk and Roach or Hydralisk and Zergling offensives by constructing Marines, Firebats, and if necessary, Siege Tanks. Against Zerglings alone the use of Firebats should suffice. After winning a confrontation, construct Bunkers on the outskirts of the enemy town. While defending, maneuver your SCVs near defensive Bunkers so they can heal them as they are hit by enemy attacks. While Terrans have terrific defenses, just sitting back and defending will eventually be a failing game plan, especially if the opponent begins to swamp you with resource gathering, which can be a weak point for Terrans.
Terran Build Order Secrets Against Protoss Opponents
To defeat a large quantity of Zealots, you should to have prepared at least 4 Barracks and build of Bunkers both on attack and defense. Deploy scouts early - if you scout a Robotics Facility or a Cybernetics Core than your foe is most likely attempting to produce Reavers. If you identify Reavers, utilize your Wraiths to destroy them. If they attempt to flee to their Shuttle, attack the Shuttle with Wraiths in them. Attack the Reavers from a distance with your Siege Tanks, initially putting them in Siege Mode placed close to the middle of your town. Be sure you are far enough away that the Reavers cannot return your attack but you can reach them. If this does not work, deploy Marines and cast Stim Packs, making sure the Marines are spread out and cannot be killed with one shot.
Lockdown is very effective against every Protoss troops except Archons and Zealots. It's especially effective when up against groups of Carriers. An excellent aggressive build is to continue switching Supply Depots and Barracks while building SCV units. While building your base and the buildings around it, it is super important to construct them tightly and packed together. Construct a Bunker to protect your buildings (the reason they need to be built tightly packed), and fill up your Bunker with four Marines. Keep constructing SCVs, Barracks and Marines. Using this tactic, you have no need to mine gas until later.
