Paramedic to RN Online Programs

    Clark State Community College

    • Clarke State Community College has an online degree program that is designed for current paramedics to prepare for a career as a registered nurse. This program leads students to earn an associate degree in nursing upon completion and prepares students for the registry examination to become a registered nurse. Courses are available and delivered in an online/hybrid format which requires students to attend only laboratory and clinical components of the program. Courses include dosage calculations, anatomy and physiology, information technology basics, interpersonal communications, and lifespan human growth and development.

    The Community College of Baltimore County

    • The Community College of Baltimore County in Maryland has a paramedic to registered nurse bridge program delivered in an online/hybrid format. For students to be eligible for this program, they must have at least two years of experience as a paramedic with certification in the state of Maryland. Upon acceptance into this program, students complete the dosage course at the end of May followed by the bridge course in the beginning of June that lasts for 12 weeks. After students have successfully completed the clinical and didactic portions of the bridge course, they begin the nursing portion of the program in the second year. Every summer, approximately 24 students are accepted into the program. Courses include fundamentals of nursing concepts, mental health nursing concepts, nursing professional practice concepts and maternal and newborn nursing concepts.

    Hutchinson Community College

    • Hutchinson Community College offers an online bridge program designed for paramedics with EMT-P certification who are interested in becoming a registered nurse. Students earn an associate degree in nursing upon completion of the program. For the clinical portion of the program, students are given a choice of 30 days to choose from in which they will complete their clinical requirements; from those 30 days, students pick 10 or 12 days that work best with their schedule. Students can expect to complete this program in two years and take courses that include human growth and development, basic concepts and principles of nursing care, adult principles and nursing care, issues and trends in nursing and leadership and management in nursing.
