How to Get a Copy of an Assault Police Report in Virginia

    • 1). Find the location of the police station where the assault report was filed. The police station that the incident was reported to will have the assault report on hand and will be able to furnish a copy for you.

    • 2). Visit the information desk of the police station. Make a request to obtain a police report. You will need to fill out a form that will require you to write down the description of the events that transpired, arrests made, the date, locations, report number and the names of all involved in the incident.

    • 3). Pay the required fee to obtain your assault report. The fee will vary depending on the city and county you are in. Typically the fee is anywhere from $5 to $10.

    • 4). Visit the police department website and fill out a police report request form. Some Virginia police departments allow you to get a copy of the report online. Fill out the form with the correct date and the location where the incident occurred.
