Small Home Business Success: Where There"s a Way, There"s a Will
I didn't used to be a dog person.
In fact, I grew up with enough cats in the house to merit "Crazy Cat Lady" status by the age of 12.
Which, if you know me and my story, may or may not be damning.
Ahem.
But these days, thanks to a Beagle named Lucy and my husband, who is convinced she hung the moon and the stars, I've grown to be a huge dog lover.
One breed that has been on my mind recently is the bulldog.
Not because it seems to be the Celebrity Dog of Choice these days (Keith Richards is especially fond of them) but because if you're going to make it big in your small home business, you have to use bulldog determination when it comes to making a decision and maintaining the willpower necessary to create what it is you desire.
With that in mind, here are five things you can do (with the help of your determination and willpower) to create small home business success in 2012: 1) Make a decision: What is it you love about being in business for yourself? How do you want to spend your days, and the precious time that you have on earth? What gets you up in the morning, and keeps you dreaming, long into the night? Identifying what it is that you love to do is the first step towards creating a life that is rich, rewarding, and built on effortless success.
2) Make a commitment: What sets successful people apart from those that lead mediocre lives at best is their level of commitment.
Making a commitment to the success of your home business will supercharge your efforts in ways that you cannot imagine until you put your hands to the plow and dig in.
Without such a commitment, you will not be able to weather the storms that are a natural part of being your own boss.
3) Feel your way: When I speak about having bulldog determination and willpower, I'm not suggesting that you ignore or suppress feelings that come up as a result of the challenges that you'll face on a daily basis.
Sometimes, you're going to feel defeated even before you start, and curling up in a ball under your desk for a while will seem like a viable game plan.
Suppressing those feelings won't make them go away, so the best thing to do is to acknowledge that they're there, and then decide to press on anyway.
4) Stay clear of those things that don't work in harmony with your desire: Home based business professionals have it pretty good.
I mean, how great is it that we can essentially eliminate commuting, make our own hours, and write our own paychecks? That said, working from home comes with its own set of distractions that can, if unchecked, eat into your time and derail progress.
So unless your small home business success requires that you watch reruns of the Kardashians and keep current with Nancy Grace, be sure to avoid distractions in order to stay laser-focused on the work at hand.
5) Post visual reminders around your workspace of what it is you want to accomplish: I have a number of very big goals I will be achieving in 2012, and if you were to drop in for a visit, it wouldn't take long before you could name the majority of them.
That's because I know just how powerful it is to have visual reminders of what it is I want to accomplish.
Take the time to post visuals, words of encouragement, and anything else that will keep your goals and objectives top of mind and encourage you when the going gets rough.
