How Important is Clean Water and Good Aquarium Lighting?

As you may or may not know there are many important factors when maintaining an aquarium, the fish within it, and any plant life you may also have.
First of all the water itself is very important.
Once the water becomes dirty/cloudy you need to change it ASAP! This can cause problems for your fish including growth problems, stress and illness.
So remember keep your water clean.
The use of a filter will also help maintain the water but that does not mean you can leave it.
Every month or so it is recommended that you change the water.
One of the key things for your aquarium is your lighting.
Aquarium lighting is perfect for fish and for plant life.
Your plants simply need light to survive.
Sometimes the daylight through your window simply is not enough for them.
This may be due to the position of the aquarium or if it is simply blocked from light to start with.
This makes the aquarium light the perfect asset to have.
The aquarium light is also perfect for fish.
Even if your tank is out of direct light or not, your fish still work on a simply day and night system like the rest of us.
It is not recommended that you keep your light on for the full 24 hour cycle as this can confuse the fish and cause many problems.
Therefore you should keep your light on for around 11-12 hours a day to maintain the cycle and allow the fish to continue as normal.
As many of you may be busy with other engagements there is a nifty little gadget known as the timer that can help you out here.
To save you the time and trouble you can easily invest a small cheap timer that will ensure your fish receive their light and night without you having to worry.
A good aquarium light + daily cycles = healthy fish and plant life.
Remember this! Thanks for reading and remember to keep a look out for the next article.
