How to Determine a Run Capacitor Size
- 1). Turn on the digital multimeter.
- 2). Turn the dial on the multimeter to the microfarad setting to measure capacitance. The symbol for microfarad is a Greek letter "mu" followed by an "f."
- 3). Clip the black lead of the multimeter to the negative terminal of the capacitor.
- 4). Clip the red lead of the multimeter to the positive terminal of the capacitor. The number output on the screen is the size of the capacitor.
