Strait of Hormuz or Blood Clot in the Vital Flows of Global Oil - Iran"s Plan of Attack
So, tell me crystal ball Guru of the future - how might WW III start? Or, has it already and has the ground work already been laid down, events we cannot take back nor de-escalate due to political posturing, misreading of cultural differences, military buildups, trade wars, cyber attacks, spy craft, religious fundamentalism, hate speech, resource wars, war games, and strategic alliances and war pacts.
Yes, I am speaking of the events in Syria, Iran, and the involvement of Russia, China, Iraq, USA, Israel, NATO, IAEA, UN, Pakistan, and terrorist groups such as; Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah.
Even neutral countries such as India, Turkey, and others are involved, and the Arab League, OPEC, and everyone and their mother is jockeying for position to play this chess game out.
There will be winners and losers, and perhaps re-drawn lines in the sand of civilization and nation-states which once were.
There was a rather alarming article today in Energy Daily Online News; "Iran Rehearses Closing Gulf Oil Route," by Staff Writers in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UPI) December 23, 2011.
The article stated; "Iranian naval forces launch a massive 10-day exercise Saturday near the Strait of Hormuz, the only way in and out of the Persian Gulf, as a rehearsal for a threatened closure of the strategic global oil artery if the country is attacked.
Iran stated the Velayat-90 drill as the largest they have conducted.
It will involve the Islamic republic's navy, which includes three Russian-built, Kilo class submarines, & the naval wing of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
" Okay so, this is interesting, but NOT unexpected, as it has long been known that the Iranians plan to mine the Straits of Hormuz in the event of another Gulf Conflict.
Of course, Iran is in a severe hardship now with the sanctions on its central bank, a run on its currency, and the regime knows that it's not long for this world.
What we've done is cornered a Tiger, so anyone with half a brain knows what comes next, and they shouldn't be surprised when it happens - happy new year indeed, I say; the challenges in 2012 are not going away.
Karl von Clausewitz warns that if your enemy is reading itself to strike, then you should preempt so that you have the element of surprise, and if you fail to do so, you do so at your own expense.
That is merely a heed of warning for those who might find themselves amongst the upper echelon of decision makers and military strategic planners in such an instance.
I believe right now in the current period, such a future now exists, and Clausewitz's words are timeless, and I didn't make them up.
Iran is now in a position with nothing to lose, and unless we have an immediate counter move to Iran blockading the Straits of Hormuz or mining that "choke point" then, we must act now.
Oil barrel prices will spike 5% on the first day of commodity trading and 10-20% by the end of the week if they do.
Of course, if we strike first most likely the same thing will occur.
Remember Iran has nothing to lose, as we've already cut off the monetary flow from oil sales by sanctioning their central bank.
Some of our trading partners aren't too happy about that.
Might I be so bold as to say that the proverbial; "human feces is about to hit the spinning airflow device.
" Hey, don't shoot the messenger, I am just calling it how I see it folks.
