Removing Peel & Stick Laminate Floors
- 1). Remove the floor trim with your pry bar and hammer. This should expose a thin space along the edge of the floor by the wall between the edge of the laminate floor and the wall.
- 2). Press the tip of your putty knife under the laminate tiles by the wall, pushing it under. Work the first tile up with the knife until you can pull it up by hand. If it starts to tear, stop pulling and push the putty knife under it again until you have a solid piece to grip. Take up the whole piece.
- 3). Take up the next piece of laminate in the same manner, pushing under it with your putty knife. Repeat, working your way out from the wall. When you are a few feet away from the wall, bring in the floor scraper and use it instead of the putty knife to continue scraping up the tiles.
- 4). Scrape up all the tiles, stopping as needed to clear out the loosened ones.
- 5). Go over the subfloor with a razor scraper, taking up any remaining adhesive. Sweep the floor. It’s now ready for new flooring.
