Splendour of Traditional Indian Clothing

Indian clothing has always represented the nation's culture and rich traditions. It signifies patriotism, ethnicity and contributes to overall beauty of a person. Traditional Indian Clothing not only talks about our cultural and traditional values but also about values in person. The very sophisticated look of Indian clothing speaks strong values inherited in the person wearing it. In modern India you can find traditional clothing often used not just Indian bridal clothing but also as casual wear. Thus Indian clothing can be broadly categorized as casual wear and occasional wear.

Indian Clothing as a casual wear

Traditional Indian clothing comes in variety of fabrics and some of these fabrics make Indian clothing for casual or daily wear purpose. Cotton is one of the most used fabrics in Indian clothing both for men and women. Women use cotton churidhars and sarees to wear for casual outing and offices. While older women prefer sarees as daily wear, many youngsters prefer to wear sarees only ethnic days and occasions at offices or colleges. And many youngsters prefer wearing a kurtis over jeans and these kuctis are mostly made from cotton, jute and linen fabrics. Then there are churidhars that are regularly used by many women in India for daily purpose.

While women have many choices, men are left with no option other than kurta pyjama or kurtas over jeans. But traditional clothing has defnitely made way for women to use them on daily and casual basis.

Indian Clothing as occasional wear

Indian clothing has vast varieties when it comes to wearing it for special occasions like weddings, festivals, house warming ceremonies, etc. There are so many occasions in different communities and each community has its own way of ethnic clothing. Women have always been the most fortunate when it comes to various types of traditional clothing available for them. Sarees make the most used clothing for older women on any occasion while churidhars and ghagras are ideal for girls and younger women. However, the most expensive and rich clothing belong to Indian bridal clothing category where clothing is for the purpose of making a bride look rich, colorful and gorgeous. Thus bridal clothing can be as expensive as fortune.

Silk is most expensive fabric followed by Satin in Indian clothing. But price of silk clothing varies depending on the kind of work done on it. Some use basic embroidery or stone work while the expensive ones will have designs made from pure gold, silver and/or precious gem stones. Thus Indian bridal clothing is most beautiful of all because of traditional designs incorporated in them.
