Business NLP - How to Add Value in Your Coaching, Consulting Or Training Business - Part 2

The Power of Choice This month I have been thinking about the power of choice.
"What choices are you making for yourself and your business in terms of who are you choosing to serve, what problems are you solving and what will be different for your client after you have worked with them?" One area in which we chose to specialise was in stress reduction.
This reminds me of working with Art, a very caring and professional pharmacist who had been off work long-term sick with "stress" for many months.
As we sat down to work together I asked him "what do you want?" He responded by describing to me how he worried about what he was being asked to do at work which seemed to be increasingly a sales role (involving dispensing increasing quantities of non-prescription drugs).
He said "I have to keep on doing this to safeguard my pension even though my boss is very demanding and wants to get rid of me".
He also told me that his wife was very concerned about the amount of time that he had been off work and how she feared that he would lose his job.
So I ask him again "so what do you want?", and when he begins to respond by saying that he is looking for a different role I say to him "What do you choose for yourself and how do you see yourself six months from NOW?".
Suddenly he begins to look and sound different.
I ask him to begin to use his planning skills to design the future that he wants, including his family and building in greater freedom and more choice as he goes along.
He begins to see himself feeling better and doing what he wants to do and hearing voices of encouragement around him.
Once he has made his choice the interview with his boss that he had been fearing suddenly seems much less daunting.
I receive an email later that week saying that his boss had told him that Art seems much less "stressed" and much more confident and that his boss is now working with him in the way that Art wants.
His doctor is also amazed at the transformation.
So have a great month, as you consider Who do I choose to add value for in the world? This is the basis for your niche in the business world.
"The hardest part about gaining any new idea is sweeping out the false idea occupying that niche.
As long as that niche is occupied, evidence and proof and logical demonstration get nowhere.
But once the niche is emptied of the wrong idea that has been filling it - once you can honestly say, I don't know, then it becomes possible to get at the truth.
