How to Read PPT Files

    Using Microsoft PowerPoint

    • 1). Launch Microsoft PowerPoint if you already have it installed on your computer. If you don't, a trial version can be downloaded via the Microsoft Office Online website, by selecting "Free 60-day trial." See Resources section for link.

    • 2). Click "File" and then choose "Open."

    • 3). Navigate to the PPT file you wish to view, then click "Open" to load the file into PowerPoint.

    Using PowerPoint Viewer 2007

    • 1). Download, install and open the PowerPoint Viewer by following on-screen instructions (see Resources).

    • 2). Click "File" and then "Open."

    • 3). Locate the PPT file, select it and then click "Open" to view the file. You will not be able to edit the file in PowerPoint Viewer 2007.

    Convert PPT Files to PDF (Freeware)

    • 1). Download, install and open PPT to PDF Converter 3000 (see Resources) by following the on-screen instructions. This is useful if you want to make the PPT file viewable on any computer with Adobe Reader.

    • 2). Click "Add Files" and navigate to your PPT file; select it and then click "Add."

    • 3). Click "Settings" next to "Output Directory," and designate an output location (the drive and folder where the file will be stored, for example).

    • 4). Click "Convert" to convert the file to PDF format. After conversion is complete, you can navigate to the new PDF file, and double-click it to open and read the contents.
