How to Install Plastic Shutters
- 1). Place the step ladder in front of the windows where you will be installing the plastic shutters.
- 2). Measure 2 inches out from the outside edge at the top and bottom of each side window casing board. Mark the measurements with a pencil.
- 3). Position the shutters against the siding of the house with the inside edge of the shutter on the pencil marks so that there is a 2-inch space between the shutter and the side casing of the window. Mark the position of the mounting holes in the shutter onto the exterior of the home.
- 4). Align the shutters with the pencil marks on the exterior. Place a level on the top edge of the shutters. Adjust the shutters for level.
- 5). Drive the mounting screws through the holes in the shutters into the exterior siding on the house with a screw gun.
- 6). Check the shutters to make sure they are level once they are fastened in place. Loosen the screws and adjust as needed. Sometimes the shutter will shift in the process of driving the screws in so minor adjustments may be needed.
