Living Water, The Christian Life
It is said that more than 60% of our body is made of water, muscles, vital organs, body parts like eyes, brain, heart, digestive system, cardiovascular and respiratory systems etc. the water is a vital component in our lives, without water we cant live, modern medicine recommends to drink 8 glasses of water a day for our body to function correctly.
Water helps our body to get rid of toxins, promotes better digestion, and helps to regulate blood pressure. In other words, drinking water on a daily basis is very important. Considering all this, the Bible uses water to give us a message for our spiritual life.
Psalms 110:7 He shall drink of the brook by the wayside; therefore He shall lift up the Head. Many years ago, in bible times, people who were traveling had to carry water with them, but the water many times was not sufficient for the trip. The travelers were forced to look for water everywhere; in rivers, in natural water springs, and from brooks. Brooks were very important to provide water for people and animals.
Isaiah 12:3 Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. Like we mentioned earlier, when the travelers found a brook, it was a time to rejoice. But in this scripture it says that this water is the water from the dwells of salvation. What is this verse talking about?
John 3:37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone thirst, let him come to me and drink. We can see here that Jesus describes himself as the water, but this water is to satisfy thirst from the soul, the same way our body needs water to survive, our spirit needs the water of Jesus.
There are many people out there suffering from loneliness, sickness, lack of jobs, family problems, many people in this world cannot enjoy happiness even if they are rich. We can hear in the news how many millionaires, business people, movie stars, rock musicians, commit suicide or go to prison for life. For some of these people, life does not have a purpose anymore, but Jesus give us the solution.
The Solution
John 4:14 Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst, but the water that I shall give him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life. Jesus is calling all there is people with thirst, those who think that life has no meaning, those who suffer but Jesus is calling also those who know the scriptures, He is calling you and me to go to Him, to have a close relationship with him daily.
He gives us peace that only he can gives, and a purpose for our lives, the water of life is the same Jesus wants to bring. Joy and Happiness to our lives.
