Frameless Entry Room Divider Solutions
- Divide the room by hanging floor-length curtains from the wall or entryway ceiling, depending on its architectural design and your preference. Obscure the next room completely with a thick, bold-colored or patterned drape, and install a curtain hook on the side so you have the option of opening it up and making the space seem larger. Sheer curtains give an elegant look, and seeing the next room keeps the space unified but in separate nooks.
- For something sturdier than sheer curtains, hang sliding screens from the ceiling. Use Asian-inspired rice paper screens, or cover tall canvases with fabric or panels that provide a subtle complement or dramatic contrast to the surrounding walls and decor. You can also install a rolling track on the ceiling, if the entryway is near a joist. Install a sliding pocket door or accordion-style divider. Leave it blank, paint it or cover it with decals to dress it up.
- Hanging beads provide an eclectic and bohemian solution for dividing rooms. Go with wood beads, a curtain with an image printed on it, or create a bead curtain with materials other than beads. String faux flowers together for a playful divider in a nursery or dorm. Thread felt circles or shapes in warm jewel tones for a silent curtain. Repurpose old scarves by sewing them onto a curtain rod installed into the ceiling or the entryway walls.
- If you don't necessarily want to obscure the inner room but just want to define the space, frame the entryway with furnishings you may already have. Place two short bookcases on either side of the entryway, cutting the space while taking advantage of the open plan. Place indoor container trees on either side for a natural touch. Long accent tables also work well.
