Planning A Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour

Many people who visit the South Rim or Vegas enjoy the thrill of taking a Grand Canyon helicopter tour of the natural wonder.
You can just do a fly over, or you can book a landing tour, it is your choice.
You can find out more about the various tour options by searching online.
Just figure out where you want to go, then look for a tour within your price range.
Here is some basic information about air tours of the Grand Canyon.
For starters, if you book a helicopter that departs from Vegas, you have to go to the West Rim.
Your flight will cover about 125 miles and it will take around 45 minutes.
You can go from Vegas to the South Rim, but to do so, you have to choose a package that includes bus or air transportation.
Flying, of course, is the fastest way to go at about 45 minutes, while a bus ride to the National Park can take up to 5 hours.
The West Rim is one edge of the 100 mile long canyon and it is located on the Hualapai Indian Reservation.
This part of the park is where the Skywalk is found, and it is referred to as Grand Canyon West.
This is the only area where you can soar down into the canyon by helicopter.
You can choose from three types of West Rim landing tours.
The first choice is an amazing helicopter descent 4000 feet to the bottom of the canyon where you can enjoy a champagne picnic; it can be dinner, lunch, or breakfast.
With this choice, you will be given thirty minutes to walk around and take in the sights of the canyon and Colorado River.
The helipad is just about 200 yards from the river.
Another choice adds to the first by including access to the Skywalk and a boat trip down the Colorado River.
This tour is one of the most popular and it gives you the opportunity to really explore the Grand Canyon National Park.
The trip takes around six hours, so you have ample time to take in the sights.
The third type of tour gives you VIP passes to the spectacular Grand Canyon Skywalk.
You not only get unrestricted and unlimited access to the glass Skywalk, you can also go straight to the head of the waiting line.
Without a pass, you could wait in line up to 45 minutes.
Although it would probably seem even longer than that because of the desert heat.
In addition, you will be given 2 hours to visit the lookout stations at Eagle Point and Guano Point, and see the Hualapai Ranch and the Indian Cultural Center.
When it comes to Grand Canyon helicopter tours, getting there is half the fun.
When you fly to the canyon from Vegas you will get amazing aerial views of Fortification Hill, Lake Mead, Hoover Dan, and the Grand Cliffs Wash.
You will also fly over the Skywalk at the West Rim and the beautiful Colorado River below.
Grand Canyon air tours like this last around two hours.
Seats on canyon helicopter flights are limited and they fill up quickly.
It is a good idea to book your tour in advance so you don't miss out on the trip of a lifetime.
You will need to prepare for your flight anyway, so even if you could find an open flight at the last minute, you wouldn't want to go without the necessary clothing and supplies.
