• .Xa files are commonly used in computer games and video games. They can be found on Maxis games SimCity 3000 and The Sims, where they are known as Extended Architecture files, as can they can be found on Sony PlayStation games.
  
  

Listening to .Xa Files On Your Computer

• Some programs, such as CDEx, allow you to convert .Xa files into .MP3 or .WAV files that you can listen to on your computer.
  
  

.Xa as an Image File

• .Xa files can also be DVD image files made by GEAR Software. Image files allow users to replicate their DVDs by creating a file identical to the contents of the DVD, easily allowing users to make backup copies of their DVDs should something happen to the original.

• There are two programs that utilize .Xa file extensions in creating image files. They are EZB Systems Ultra ISO and GEAR Software GEAR PRO.
