Texas Grants for the Arts & Humanities
- The Dallas Institute's Hiett Prize awards $50,000 to an emergent scholar who demonstrates leadership potential and accomplishment in the humanities. Award recipients can use the funding to support their research and ongoing work in the humanities. To apply for the award, candidates must submit a letter of recommendation, a curriculum vitae, a summary of work published and accomplishments, and a project plan outlining future study in the humanities. Applications are due by June 1 of each calendar year.
- Humanities Texas provides humanities grant funding to non-profit cultural, educational and government organizations. Three types of grants are awarded. Mini-grants provide up to $1,500 in funding to organizations for the delivery of public programs related to the humanities. Major grants for community projects provide grant funding of up to 50 percent of the project cost for public projects such as seminars, exhibits and town hall forums. Major grants for media projects provide funding for organizations to develop radio, film or interactive media programs. Mini-grant applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Major grant applications must include a letter of intent and letters of support. Applications for major grants are due by March 15 and September 15 of each calendar year.
- The Odessa Council for the Arts and Humanities provides grant funding to arts and cultural organizations, and individuals, to support and increase local tourism, and increase public awareness of artistic projects and cultural diversity in Odessa and the surrounding area. Grant recipients must use the grant funding for projects in Odessa or within 12 miles of Odessa. Mini-grants provide up to $2,000 in funding to organizations, while the annual grant provides up to 50 percent of the project cost. To apply, applicants must submit an application form and provide a project description, project budget and expenditures. Applications are due by September 1 of each calendar year.
- The Texas Commission on the Arts' Arts Create grant program provides funding to eligible organizations to support the operation of arts programs in the state. Grants range from $3,000 up to 25 percent of the cost of the art organization`s operating budget for the previous calendar year. Applicants must provide matching dollars for grant funding. To apply, applicants must include a video overview of their organization, samples of publication and print materials, and proof of non-profit organization status. Applications are due March 1 and 15 of each odd numbered calendar year.
