Some districts refer to the position as "Bookstore Manager," while others advertise "Textbook Specialist," "Textbook Coordinator," and "Media Specialist" positions. Instructional materials manager, and library clerk are other positions that incorporate similar duties to the high school bookstore manager. Smaller districts may ask bookstore managers to assist with library materials management in addition to textbook management. Salaries vary depending on title, job responsibilities and educational requirements.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that in 2010, textbook managers in the 90th percentile earned $73,600, and in the 10th percentile, $19,600 a year.
