To Be or Not To Be Famous?
I wanted the things that money could buy and being famous seemed to be the best and most glamorous way to obtain riches coming from a musical family who didn't make it. My dad could sing but hadn't been to a studio until after my mom died in which him and I recorded a gospel song. Fame and Fortune is always hand in hand, but what is it worth? With the recent deaths of boxing legend Hector Camacho and television show Dallas' JR Ewing actor Larry Hagman it just goes to continuously show how Fame or Fortune does not stop the almighty inevitable hands of death. Anything that they had now means nothing. Unless, the two celebrities were able to leave a substantial amount of money for their family to live on, what other feeling gives an importance to having fame and fortune if you are not able to take it with you.
Doctor saves lives, fireman, and police yet we who want the fame and fortune want even more gratification than someone saying "You're a hero, you saved my life" because we are caught up in this illusion that living a lifestyle of someone rich and famous will bring happiness. Those who find importance in money who want a more lucrative job would rather entertain the masses to get an unbelievable income and pray we can leave our children with a greater income who could possibly leave their children and even greater one because we know that there is no fun in taking a bath in cold water when the gas is off and who can find a match for a candle when the lights are off. We don't like struggle and there's nothing wrong with wanting money. However, can't buy you happiness.
While I was out searching for the fame and fortune my children were growing up and growing apart from me. I wanted the best for them but the best for them would have been for me to spend more time with them because I can't give those years back. Money, I still want if for my kids and for my kids' kids but now I know where to place the values that weren't displayed on MTV Cribs and it's that there is more important things than fame and fortune and money. We should value time over moneyâEUR¦because are time is priceless and does have an expiration date.
