This footpath was used for transport of materials between hydropower Chorro and Gaitanejo. The name El Caminito Del Ray (Footpath of the king) was given to it after king Alfonso XIII boldly walked over it in 1921. The path is 1 m wide and lies 100 m above the river. Because of missing handrails and concrete and due to its danger it is a hot spot for adrenaline junkies despite the ban notice.
