Don"t Miss Your Deadlines For Christmas Parcel Delivery
Christmas time is without doubt the busiest period of the year when it comes to any type of parcel delivery.
The systems are packed full of deliveries from both businesses and everyday consumers trying to get their packages to the intended receiver in time for the big day.
With online shopping becoming increasingly popular, the likelihood is that the number of packages is going to steadily increase in the future.
If you have got presents that you need to send either within the UK or further afield then you need to make sure that you get them on their way before the last guaranteed date to avoid disappointment.
Clearly, if you can get your presents sent earlier then that would be a lot better but if that is not possible then we have given a rough outline of some of the dates you should keep in mind.
Obviously the further you are sending a package, the earlier you will generally have to send it so we will start off by looking at deliveries to non-European destinations.
If you are choosing to use the Royal Mail to send something to the USA, Canada or Japan then you will need to have posted by 10th December.
Sending gifts to the Far East, Asia or Australia means that you will generally need to send them around a week earlier than this.
However, if you choose to use a courier service to send items to these places then the last guaranteed date for all destinations will be around 15th December which obviously gives you a bit more leeway.
If you have friends or relatives that live in Europe then there are again differences in the last dates depending on who you choose to use.
Eastern European deliveries are put in the same date bracket as USA & Canada with the Royal Mail while Western European packages only have one extra day and should be sent by 11th December.
Using a professional parcel service will usually give you around an extra seven days to get your packages posted.
The dates for UK deliveries are, as you would expect, later than the other destinations and there is not as much difference between the Royal Mail and a courier service.
For a Royal Mail standard package, you should get it sent by 15th December but they do provide a special delivery service up until a couple of days before Christmas.
With a courier service you will find that you will have a few more days to get most packages sent but they will also be able to provide express deliveries.
It should be noted that the above dates are only given as a guide and you should always check early enough on the exact dates for your Christmas parcel delivery.
Using a courier will generally mean that you have got a bit more time to get things sorted but it will also usually mean that you will have to pay more so start considering your options now to give you enough time to prepare.
