How to Waive the Right to Inventory Assets in Wills in Georgia

- 1). Contact the executor of the estate and request a "Waiver of Inventory" form. This is also available through the probate court clerk. Signing a waiver can save time in the probate process with less work the executor must early on in the process.
- 2). Read the waiver to fully understand your rights and what you are releasing. While you may later be able to get an inventory, it may be too late to correct mishandling of assets.
- 3). Sign the waiver, submitting the original to the probate court clerk or the executor. The executor will file it with the court if received. When you personally file it with the probate court, send a conformed copy with the court's date stamp to the executor for the estate records.
