Dimensions of the 1965 Mustang Fastback
- The Mustang was originally available as only a coupe or a convertible. In September of 1964, a third body style was released. The new style was called the "2 + 2 Fastback." Whereas the roof of the coupe and convertible stopped at the front of the trunk lid, the Fastback's roof extended downward at a gradual angle to an approximate mid-point between the back of the car and the rear tire. The Fastback's dimensions are the same as for the other two models, but the Fastback is slightly taller.
- The Fastback's wheelbase was 108 inches in length.
- The overall length of the car was 181.6 inches. The overall width was 68.2 inches.
- The front tread width was 56 inches if equipped with the 289 engine and 55.4 inches if equipped with the 200 engine. Rear tread width was 56 inches regardless of the engine type.
- The fastback was slightly taller than the coupe and convertible models at 51.2 inches.
