Inflamed Gums - Is It a Good Idea to Ignore Them?

Inflamed gums are minor irritations or trauma which usually don't need any medical treatment or attention.
One of the most common causes is harsh brushing.
Gingivitis is the term, which refers to inflammation of gums.
This occurs when proper hygiene of the teeth is not maintained regularly by brushing and flossing.
Basically it is caused by deposition of food particles in the gums and teeth.
This gradually forms plaque in the mouth, which on further maturity develops tartar.
Thus creating an environment for infections and inflamed gums.
Though not serious enough but this can cause several dangers and in times it can become more serious and complicated.
The process starts with the attacks in the bones that support the teeth.
Causing the teeth to loosen from the gum and gradually fall out.
Some other reasons for inflamed gums maybe, malnutrition, scurvy or certain medications, poor dentures fitting etc.
Other than this, inflammation of gums can also be caused by canker sores on the gum.
Usually the over described are the main reasons of generating an inflamed gum.
This minor irritation doesn't need any extra care.
Only daily maintenance and brushing slowly and softly is the only process.
Inflamed gums once occurred are very painful and awful.
The most common symptoms of inflammation of gums are swelling or inflammation, tenderness, pain and bad breath etc.
Other than these the color of the gum also changes from pink to deep red.
Bleeding is one of the most common complains of patients.
Yes it's true that inflammation of gums create chances of bleeding.
Specially while eating and brushing it may quite easily bleed.
The other complain of the patients is the burning and pain.
As we all know that having your gums inflamed is not that serious but extreme oral unhygienic conditions will create this sort of problems for a person.
Overall it can be said that inflamed gums can be very painful in some cases.
It may not seem so at the beginning but eventually it may take a bad shape.
Loss of teeth, bleeding gums may be the ultimate result of inflamed gums.
Whereas bad odors from the mouth may also come due to the infection.
So, it is very necessary to keep our teeth and gums clean.
Brushing softly is advised by all dentists for reducing the chances of having your gums inflamed.
So, coming down to the final question "is it a good idea to ignore them?" The answer is no.
Because avoiding can take the wrong turn and damage everything.
Thus when little pain or swelling in the gums are seen it is better to be reported without any delay.
The use of hard brushes for teeth should be stopped.
Rather soft or medium brushes are preferred.
