Cut a wooden pencil with a handsaw so that it is slightly wider than the width of your guitar's neck. Place the pencil on a flat surface as you saw.

Place the cut pencil over the fret that you want to capo.

Wrap a rubber band around one end of the pencil.

Stretch the rubber band behind the neck of the guitar and wrap it around the other end of the pencil.

Strum the guitar to see whether the pencil is clamping down all of the strings. If you hear a buzz, then you need to add more tension by adding more rubber bands to hold the pencil in place.
