How to Get Rid of Pool Wrinkles
- 1). Remove the cap from the water valve at a bottom edge of the portable vinyl pool. Release the valve so water empties onto the ground. Let all of the water drain out before continuing.
- 2). Wipe the bottom of the pool, on and around the wrinkles, with paper towels. Continue wiping the pool until the vinyl is dry.
- 3). Plug a weather-resistant extension cord into an AC outlet on an outside wall of the house. Plug the power cord of a heat gun into the free end of the extension cord. Set the heat gun to the "Medium" setting.
- 4). Turn on the heat gun and wait two minutes. Hold the tip of the heat gun a few inches away from the wrinkles on the pool's vinyl bottom.
- 5). Direct the stream of hot air from the tip of the heat gun along the length of the wrinkles on the vinyl, moving slowly from side to side. Continue for five minutes, adding more time if you do not see the surface of the vinyl starting to pucker or stretch out.
- 6). Turn off the heat gun off and set it aside. Place the edge of the car squeegee against the vinyl bottom of the pool, to the side of a wrinkle. Press down on the edge as you drag the squeegee along the length of the wrinkle to smooth it out. Lift the squeegee and inspect the wrinkle to see if it has been smoothed out. If not, repeat the procedure until the wrinkle is no longer visible.
- 7). Aim the heat gun at the bottom of the pool in the same manner. Repeat the procedure with the squeegee to remove another wrinkle from the vinyl. Continue this two-part process until you've smoothed out all of the wrinkles.
