How to Make a Photograph Look Old

- 1). Fill a baking pan with about 1/2 inch of lukewarm water.
- 2). Place your photograph inside of the baking pan and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes. Let the photograph dry.
- 3). Mix about 1/2 cup of water with 1/2 cup of potting soil. Lay out your image onto a hard, dry surface (preferably with newspaper down so you don't make a mess) and rub the mixture on top of the image. This will give it a little less color and start to give it a sepia feel (but it will look more natural than if it were done on a computer).
- 4). Wipe off the excess dirt and water, and let the image dry once again.
- 5). Once the photograph has fully dried, using a lighter, burn one of the corners of the image. As soon as the photograph lights on fire, drop it into water to put it out. You do not want to burn the whole image, only a corner.
- 6). Repeat the steps above for a more rugged feel, and once your image has reached your liking, frame it and date it.
