Questions To Ask Your Potential Wedding Photographer
While all aspects of wedding planning are important and will add to the overall feel of your day, the wedding photographer could easily be considered the most crucial.
Once your wedding day is finished, all you will have left is the memories and the wedding photographs.
This is why it is so important to find the right photographer to suit your style.
It needs to be someone you can get on with, as well as someone who will produce photographs that you can enjoy looking at for many years to come.
The first step to finding that person is to know what questions you need to ask.
It is a good idea to start with a few questions about their style of photography.
They should show you some samples of their work, ideally in wedding album format so you can see how they lay out their work.
This may answer some of the questions, but as you have only just met the photographer, the 'techy' questions can be used to break the ice.
Ideally you want someone who is friendly but unobtrusive, and definitely someone who can encourage your guests to get in their places quickly for each group photograph!
One question we have missed out so far is probably the most important one: how much do they charge! But that's probably not a question you'll forget to ask.

- How would they describe their style? Predominantly traditional or journalistic, or both?
- Do they shoot with a digital camera or a film camera? If they use a digital camera (and most will these days), what sort of back ups do they have in place?
- How many images do they usually shoot at a wedding?

- Will the photographer you are talking to be the one who attends your wedding?
- Do they work with an associate and if so can you meet them before the wedding?
- How long have they been a wedding photographer for?
- Do they have more than one wedding per day?
- What time will they arrive, and how long will they stay?
- What will they wear to your wedding? They should fit in with whatever your dress code is.
- Do you need to provide a meal for the photographers?
- How long will it take until I can see the proofs? Will they be watermarked as proofs? Can I view them online?
- What is included in the fee? This may be just the images, one wedding album, or may even include a CD of images and parents' albums.
- How many photos can we have in the wedding album?
- How do we decide on the final layouts?
One question we have missed out so far is probably the most important one: how much do they charge! But that's probably not a question you'll forget to ask.
