How to Connect Wireless Hardware
- 1). Turn off your computer.
- 2). Remove all power cables and input cables from your computer; the latter are good to remove so as to avoid yanking them while opening and operating inside the tower.
- 3). Touch your hand to a grounded metal object. This will transfer the static electricity from your hand. Static electricity can damage internal computer component, so it is wise to take this precaution.
- 4). Open up your computer tower. This may require a screwdriver, as some tower covers are attached with screws.
- 5). Search for a spare PCI slot. A PCI slot is the standard slot that the "cards" in your computer are installed into. It consists of one long ingress point alongside a smaller one.
- 6). Insert the applicable end of the wireless card into the PCI slot; make sure you have the wireless card aligned so that the card will fit into the PCI slot. Push on the card gently. If you push too hard, you risk breaking both the card and the slot. Wiggle the card into the slot if necessary. Eventually, you will feel the card fully settle into the slot.
- 7). Close your computer tower.
- 8). Find the wireless card's protruding end on the back of the computer. There will be a place to which you will attach an antenna. Attach the antenna to the applicable ingress point.
- 9). Reconnect your computer's power cables and any other cables you removed in step 2, and turn your computer on.

Insert the driver CD that came with your wireless adapter to install the necessary drivers. Some adapters may not require a CD for this.
