Seth Rogen Steps Up to the Plate for The Green Hornet



July 20, 2007 - The Los Angeles Times broke the news that red-hot actor Seth Rogen (Knocked Up, The 40 Year Old Virgin) will co-write, produce and star in The Green Hornet movie set up at Columbia Pictures.

Rogen and Evan Goldberg will take over writing the screenplay for the film which follows playboy newspaper publisher Britt Reid, also known as the masked superhero The Green Hornet. Rogen will star in the film which is targeting a 2009 release.

Rogen's star is on the rise after having successfully shown with Knocked Up that he can headline a film. The actor's also in demand as a writer with Superbad, Drillbit Taylor and The Pineapple Express all written by Rogen (Goldberg co-wrote all but Drillbit Taylor).

There's no official word yet on who will play The Green Hornet's trusty companion Kato although Jet Li was rumored to be in the running for the role.
