There are many symptoms of laryngitis and these include pain in your throat, coughing, fever, tiredness, hoarseness or complete loss of your voice, and a nurse to clear your throat frequently.
Some things you can do to help you get over your symptoms.
  • Don't shout or yell as soon as you start feeling any type of tightness or pain in your throat.
  • Talk as little as possible, as your vocal cords and throat need plenty of rest.
Try not to shout or whisper and limit your throat clearing as much of possible.
  • Quit smoking cigarettes, and avoid other people who do smoke, while they are smoking.
  • If you have a humidifier, set it up and humidify your bedroom as well as your whole house if it is possible.
  • Drink a whole lot water, as many as 8 to 12 glasses a day.
If you start passing water more often than you normally do, then you are drinking enough.
  • In order to soothe your throat, you might try gargling with some warm salt water.
Mix an 8 ounce glass of water with a teaspoon of salt.
Another thing you can do is drink some really weak tea, or try mixing some honey in some hot water, or add a little lemon juice to your hot water instead.
As a side note, it is important to know that you shouldn't give honey to any child who is under one year of age.
  • If you have any suspicion that your laryngitis is being caused because of a heartburn related issue i.
    e.
acid reflux, then you should seek proper treatment for that.
Laryngitis isn't a real big concern in most instances, but there are cases in which you should contact your Dr.
Some of these would include the development of signs that you might be getting a bacterial infection, or if your symptoms last for more than three or four weeks.
Use a little bit of common sense and good judgment and your symptoms should clear up shortly.
