About Luxurious Pools
- Pools are no longer limited by their shapes of the past--the kidney, the oval, square or rectangle. Today's pool designers are very creative artists that have no boundaries. Infinity pools, waterfalls, guitar shapes, piano shapes and many others are now being turned into viable pool designs.
Today's pool designers are as concerned with the natural landscaping and views from your yard as they are the pool itself. If a home has an already spectacular view, the designer will want the pool to enhance that rather than detract from the view. If a home is built in a rocky area, chances are the designer will incorporate rock into the pool's construction to make it part of the landscape rather than something that looks totally out of place. The swimming area can often become the home's focal point if it is used frequently. Terracing and decks can lead your guests down a path to the pool while accentuating a hilly landscape.- If you have a very contemporary home, you will want a complimentary contemporary pool, while a more traditional home may call for a more traditional design. Builders should coordinate your pool's style and features to compliment that of your home so that one area flows seamlessly to the other.
Try to match similar features such as using a compatible brick on the pool as that which is on your home. If the home has stonework, tie that into the fence or pool wall. If you are unable to match products, at least try to match the color schemes of the home and the pool.
Homeowners are no longer limited to having "just a pool" for their outdoor entertainment. Many pools now have features such as built-in hot tubs, waterfalls, shallow sunbathing areas, and fantastic fountains and lighting for drama. One end of the pool can be naturally sloped and covered with sand to create a true beach effect. Once the newness has worn off, many homeowners spend more time looking at their pool than actually swimming in it, so you will want to do everything to make it as beautiful and pleasing to the eye as possible. Add attractive plants and effective lighting to keep the pool a sight to behold for years.- Be sure to learn your local pool building codes before you enter into a pool project. Many cities require the pool to be fenced in for the protection of young children. Some pool drains have recently been banned because of their high-powered suctioning abilities and the threat this poses to children and small animals. Keep apprised of these laws and regulations, and discuss them carefully with your pool builder before ordering your supplies.
