Guide Review - Canibus - 'C Of Tranquility' (Interdependent Media)
C of Tranquility finds this cerebral MC exploring disparate themes and musical territories beyond his previous discs. Check out DJ Premier's production on "Golden Terra of Rap" and Jake One's work on "C Scrolls" for proof.
Ultimately, his songs still border on the familiar -- tough talk, lyrical bravado, and the occasional reference to UFOs. Sorry, Bis, but there's only so many ways to talk about how lyrically apt you are before people start nodding off.
If you're looking to dance your shoes off, this is the wrong album. But if you're a staunch Canibus fan with an insatiable appetite for intricate rhymes, step right in and bathe freely in the C of Tranquility.
