Berber carpet made of olefin can be cleaned with a simple steam-cleaning method. You can either perform the cleaning yourself or hire a professional to come in. Steam cleaning will not leave your Berber soaked for any extended period of time.
  
  Nylon is another man-made material that helped make Berber so popular. Although nylon Berber carpeting is a bit more expensive than olefin, it's easier to care for than wool and more visually appealing than olefin. Nylon Berber has the ability to mimic the appearance of wool, but the additional ability to withstand heavy traffic with little wear and withstand years of cleaning. Although you can use a steam-cleaning method for a nylon-constructed Berber carpet, the optimal route involves using a dry cleaning method as you would with wool. Nylon does not resist water like olefin, and with a professional dry cleaning service, the amount of water being applied to the rug can be measured and precise.
